PAY YOUR PROPERTY TAXES UNDER PROTEST!!!

ALERT: #177
DATE: August 1, 2008
TO: Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Owners
FROM: Village League Tax Revolt Committee

Dear Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Tax Protesters,

Many of you just received your dreaded property tax bill(s) for 2008/09. Some of us are still waiting. Hopefully the Washoe County Treasurer has calculated your property taxes for the 2008/09 tax year correctly.

The Village League strongly suggests that every property taxpayer in Incline Village and Crystal Bay continues topay their property taxes under protest. This is done by including a protest form with each payment. If your property taxes are paid from an impound account, then you should send in the protest form separately just before each payment is made.

We have included as an attachment a blank copy of the protest form. Print out one copy for each payment you plan to make. Some of you pay all your taxes in one payment, so you only need to print out the form, complete it and mail it one time.

Some of you do four separate payments. We recommend that you print out 4 copies of the form and send a completed copy with each payment. Paper clip a protest form to each payment coupon. This will be a reminder to include the form with ever payment.

In the event that the attached protest form does not download or open up, you can also go to the forms page on our website, http://www.nevadapropertytaxrevolt.org/pages/Forms.html to download and printout the Pay Uncer Protest form.

Please remember that property tax payments are due as follows:
==>   First Payment: August 18, 2008
==>   Second Payment: October 6, 2008
==>   Third Payment: January 5, 2009
==>   Fourth Payment: March 2, 2009

MAKE COPIES

As we have been stating since beginning our tax revolt efforts, be sure to always keep a copy of all your tax payments, protest forms and any other communications that have been sent or received from the Washoe County Assessor or Treasurer. This data may become necessary to calculate and verify future tax refunds.

WHY ARE PAYMENT UNDER PROTEST FORMS STILL NECESSARY?

Some of you are asking why we need to send in these forms when we have already won two Nevada Supreme Court cases and still have 11 other court cases in process

It is to protect your due process rights. We are winning because of our persistence and perseverance in all aspects of the property tax revolt. Until we are totally victorious, we have to file every appeal, every petition and every protest that is necessary to cover all our legal bases. That is the short answer. The long answer would take many pages of legalese and would demonstrate the complexity of the Nevada Property Tax System.

We will try to keep you informed at every step along the way as to what you should do next. Stay tuned!!

Best Regards,
Wayne Fischer, Webmaster
