<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>Dear Fellow Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Owners,</b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Today was a BIG WIN for us!!! The Washoe County Board of Equalization voted unanimously to consolidate the hearings for the approximately 1200 plus Petitioners in the Incline Village/Crystal Bay area who are appealing their property taxes. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Attorney Tom Hall is representing all of the appellants, and the hearings have been scheduled for February 16, 17 and 18, 2005 at the Washoe County Commission Chambers located at 1001 East Ninth Street in Reno. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Our effort to have one mass hearing for all who cared to join in the appeal attempt was successful. </font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">We urge all of you to attend at least one of the hearings which will begin at 9:00 AM each day. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">It is important to demonstrate how vital this tax issue is to the homeowners of our area. We anticipate that there will be six speakers who will be addressing the Board, in an attempt to explain the severity of the tax problems that we are facing. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The Petition for Consolidation, which was filed yesterday by Attorney Tom Hall, addresses the following four points:</font></p>
<ul>
<li><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">That the 8% tax increase on all residential land in our area (land factor) is invalid.</font>
<li><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">There has been a failure to properly equalize assessments inside and outside of Washoe County.</font>
<li><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">We have been denied due process of law.</font>
<li><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">There has been a failure to follow the proper Rules and Regulations in appraising and </font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">assessing properties.</font>
</ul>
<p><font size="-1" color="red" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>This is an occasion that you do not want to miss!!!</b></font></p>
<p><b><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Other Activities</font></b></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">We are still waiting for a ruling on the lawsuit filed in Carson City in the court of Judge Maddox, as well as an opinion from our appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">An additional 32 more cases are in progress and oral arguments should be scheduled in the near future. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">There are a lot of other activities going on behind the scenes as well. </font><font size="-1" color="#006400" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS! </b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The wheels of Justice <b>DO</b> turn slowly, but they are turning.</font></p>
