<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>To all of our friends in Incline Village and Crystal Bay,</b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">What a terrific impact you made with your emails to the Legislature!!! Our Bill, AB392, is #1 in favorable responses of ALL of the Bills that have been presented. Plus, I just received the latest <b><i>News Issue</i></b> from the <b>Nevada Taxpayers Association</b>, (the very powerful and another tax oriented group in Nevada), and THEY are supporting us. I love it when a good plan comes together.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Meanwhile, I discovered two horrible Bills on taxes that are going to be heard tomorrow in the Senate Committee at 1:30PM, <i>We don’t have any time to waste</i>. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">These, however, are Bills that we definitely do </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>NOT</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"> want to have passed. They are </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>SB486</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"> and </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>SB394</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">. Both Bills were proposed by the <b>Assessors’ Association</b>, so you can imagine who they favor, and</font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b> it isn’t us</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">You will not believe what just one of the provisions in SB394 is trying to accomplish. <b>Sit down when you read this</b> – you will need to. In order to raise the appraisal of your property to <b>FULL CASH VALUE</b>, they will be able to use previously <b>non-taxable</b> intangible personal property.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Some examples are: shares of stock, bonds, mortgages, notes, bank deposits, securities, customer lists, patents, trademarks, custom computer programs etc. And these are not all. If you were saving money in a bank account to re-roof your home (or for anything else), the assessor could add the value of the bank account to the value of your property, “as long as it did not EXCEED full cash value”. <i><b>How many times have we heard that phrase used before?</b></i></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>Another doozey!!</b> The County Board of Equalization could not reduce the assessment on your property unless you, the appellant, “shows by <b>substantial evidence</b> that the valuation established by the county assessor is excessive”. We already have the “burden of proof” to show that our assessments were incorrect. How much evidence is substantial? How subjective is that?</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The County Assessor would also be able to issue a subpoena and demand financial and legal documents from a person complaining about the assessment of his property. If the complainant refused to comply, “the county assessor shall make a reasonable estimate of the property and assess it accordingly”. </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><i><b>No reduction could then be made by the County Board of Equalization.</b></i></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">If any one of the above scenarios were to happen, then the State Board of Equalization could not reduce the assessment either. Nevada is starting to become a Police State, <b>unless we can stop it. </b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><a href="https://www.leg.state.nv.us/73rd/opinions/Poll/index.cfm#EnterInfo?drpMenuOne=2048">Click here</a> just as you did before. Pleae indicate that you are </font><font color="#8b0000" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>NOT</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"> in favor of both legislation bills. And, once again add a comment if you wish. Please do this for both bills: </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>SB486</b></font><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"> and again for </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>SB394.</b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The State of Nevada elected officials know now that we are watching. <i>We are alive, and alert.</i> We are a subtle reminder that the ballot box is another solution if this madness continues. </font><font color="#8b0000" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b><i>This will get their attention!!</i></b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><i>I apologize for asking for your help so soon again, but we are facing yet another crisis.</i></font></p>
