<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">We were waiting for the news with crossed fingers and bated breath.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The hearing started on Tuesday and was continued on Wednesday (yesterday). When the vote was called, and we found that we won 3 – 2, it was really hard to believe. <b>What a Win !!! </b>All of the 244 League members, who were consolidated into the group that was represented by Attorney Thomas J. Hall, will have their property tax assessments rolled – back to 2002.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The Assessors are livid. The fix was in, and we had been supposed to <b>lose</b>. When the B Panel came in with their Decision, however, it was in our favor. The County is now in a real pickle. They will fight hard to stop the Supreme Court from letting the Maddox Order, which Washoe County appealed, stand. We have already heard, “the sky is falling”, mantra being unfurled.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">In addition the date <b>has</b> been set for the Equalization hearing. It will be on March 8, 2006 at 9:00 AM - Barkley Ranch at the Interpretive Center in Reno. Once again, I urge as many of you who can, to come and join us. The hearing will be first about Procedures and then they will vote on whether to allow all of Incline Village and Crystal Bay to be equalized.</font></p>
<p><font color="red" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><b>THAT WOULD MEAN A ROLL-BACK TO 2002 FOR EVERY SINGLE PROPERTY OWNER IN THE AREA </b></font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">History is being made in Nevada right now. Come and watch.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">If we are successful on March 8, the failure to tax property owners equally, will not be a problem again for a long, long time. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Les Barta, one of the Board members of the Village League, did a fantastic job in presenting our case. He has been a terrific team member, usually behind the scenes; but, he is an incredible strategist and has a legal mind. We would never have gotten this far without his insight and prodigious work. We all owe him a real debt of gratitude.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Today is another hugely important meeting. This one is before the Nevada Tax Commission and the State Department of Taxation.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Yesterday, Attorney Hall requested a date from the Court to start Assessor McGowan’s malfeasance trial. Once it starts, the time frame for a verdict is only 20 days. If he is found guilty, another appointment is immediately made by the Governor to fill his position. </font></p>
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">There is so much going on that it is hard to keep track of it all. Yesterday was truly an amazing piece of the puzzle. We will keep you informed as events unfold, so watch for your Alerts, and don’t miss a Chapter.</font></p>
