But we have elected to keep our latest victories unheralded ... until now.</b></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; min-height: 17px;"><br></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><b>During Nevada's four-month legislative session, all Nevada property owners faced a serious threat in the form of Assembly Bill 56. What was the threat? In short, Nevada's Department of Taxation proposed, at their sole discretion, to bypass the local assessors and county commissioners with substitute property assessments of their own. Those assessments might apply to any year and could not, as a practical matter, be challenged by a property owner. Taxpayer protections would be circumvented. The impact on Incline Village/Crystal Bay and all Nevada property owners could have been disastrous!</b></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><b> </b></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><b>Fortunately, through the hard work of our team and advisors plus the help of some savvy legislators the bill was set aside. We followed every bill through the session to ensure that similar language did not get included in any other legislation. The result was good news for Nevada taxpayers and illustrates how important it is for us to remain ever-vigilant. Those that would usurp the protections built into our constitution and regulations have not gone away.</b></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><b> </b></div><div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px -36px; font-size: 15px; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><b>Meanwhile, we continue to await the ruling of the Nevada Supreme Court on our latest case</b><span style="color: #050505"><b>, which </b></span><b>was heard during November 2014. Once again, the Department of Taxation and State Board of Equalization </b><span style="color: #060606"><b>tried</b></span><span style="color: #ff2500"><b> </b></span><b>to undo our previous victories by ordering our County Assessor to re-assess Incline Village and Crystal Bay properties for the tax years 2002 through 2004. Neither our past nor present assessor have any interest in conducting such an exercise. The taxpayer's case against this bold maneuver is strong and we feel the Court is well versed on the issue.
